BeautyUK 2012 Haul!

Hiya lovelies!
On Monday I went to the BeautyUK event at the NEC in Birmingham, a trade exhibition show where there are stands for lots of different beauty, nails, holistics and tanning companies - think the clothes show but for beauty therapists. As it's trade only, it means cheapy trade prices!

The first things I bought were make-up brushes from Royal and Langnickel. I've seen these brushes reviewed online before so I was thrilled to see they were going to have a stand here! I get very excited about brushes, which is quite weird and sad when you think about it.

Anyway, I picked five brushes from the S.I.L.K Pro range, and I'm so happy with all of them!

(As you can see, I've used them before taking these photos. Naughty!)

From the top; SM Stippler C255, Angle Eye Blender C460, Concealer C210, Crease C430, Taklon Pointed Lip C656

They're SO soft and you can tell they're really good quality.
The stippling brush has shed very slightly, but I usually expect that from new facial brushes anyway and I imagine it will stop after a few uses. Even so, I'm only talking a couple of hairs here and there, nothing that would really bother me. I've been after a stippling brush for a while now and it applies my foundation like a dream.
I won't bore you with going into detail about every brush, but they're fantastic, especially for the price and I'm definitely going to try and hunt down some more. I would recommend anyone to check these out if they can!

I also picked out a couple of nail varnishes, one from Essie and one from China Glaze. I sort of wish I'd bought a lot more while I was there as they were about half price, but I just didn't feel like I needed any of the colours. There was also an OPI stand and anyone that knows me, knows that I am OPI obsessed. I guess I just wasn't in a nail varnish mood at the time! :(

The colours I bought were 'My Place or Yours' and 'CG in the City'.

'My Place or Yours' is a lovely peachy pink, a lot more wearable than most of the pinks I own. I think I'll get a lot of wear out of this. I don't know why but I really love the Essie bottles, so cute.

'CG in the City' is probably my new favourite in my collection. I'm going out on Saturday and this is definitely going to be on my nails! You can't tell so much in the picture but it's lavender and silver toned glitter. It covers really well with only a couple of coats and I'm really impressed by it. I'll get a photo of it on my nails up soon!

The next things I bought were from the NYX stand. I've tried out some products by them before that I'd ordered off a website (not too sure which one now!), but this was the first time I'd ever seen NYX actually in the UK so that was quite exciting.

 Cream Blush in 'Hot Pink'

This is actually a lot brighter in person, it's more of a neon pink. It has a really nice, creamy consistency and not sticky feeling at all which I've found with a few cream blushes.

Eye Shadows in  'Flamingo' and 'Gunmetal'

NYX shadows have really good pigmentation, and I loove these colours. I'll be wearing flamingo in they day time a lot. Not too sure why it's called flamingo though.. wouldn't flamingo be pink? Gunmetal has the nicest sparkles in it. I wasn't planning on buying a colour like this, but I just happened to swatch it and fell in love. I think I paid around £3 for these, which I think is really good value for money.

Eye Pencil in 'White Pearl' and Lip Pencil in 'Nude Pink'

I've been after a whitish eye pencil FOREVER. I've been putting it on my waterline and by my tear duct and it makes my eyes look so much brighter and wider. I especially like that it's pearlised, I think matte, bright white can look a bit scary sometimes and this is a lot more flattering.
I have a bit of a thing for nude lip pencils and I have similar ones to this already, I just can't help buying them for some reason. The majority of the time I wear nude colours on my lips and this goes well with them - a nice addition to my collection!

Concealer in a Jar in 'Fair'

I'm not massively thrilled with this concealer. It is nice and I don't regret buying it, but I always seem to be after the perfect concealer and this just isn't it. I will use it, but I think there are better ones out there, so my search continues!

The last items I bought were eyelashes from a  French brand called Peggy Sage. I've never heard of this brand before and they had lots and lots of make-up and all sorts at their stand. There was quite a crowd of people there when I went and I didn't really feel up for swatching everything, so I just stuck to eyelashes. These were an absolute steal, I think they were around £2 and if you're an eyelashes lover like myself, you'll know that this is a great price for quality eyelashes. I'm not too sure of the names of the styles as the packaging is all in French, but I bought two sets of strip lashes, and one set of individuals.
I am really really looking forward to wearing these!

Look how pretty the top ones are! Ooooooh

A Completely Unrelated Forever21 Purchase

After BeautyUK, I took a cheeky trip to The Bullring and had a look around. I only ended up buying a couple of rings from Forever 21 but I thought they deserved a little mention. If you haven't checked out the jewellery there, you really should. It's my favourite place to buy mine for sure, lots of cute things for really great prices!

I've had a look on the website for these but as far as I know, they're not on there anymore. The cross ring was around £1.50 and the cage ring around £3. Bargain! The cross ring is a bit large though which makes me sad because I really like it. I blame the elastic that tied it to the packaging making it seem smaller than it was! I'm going to figure out some way to wear it though, would it be weird to stuff tissue under my finger? Haha

Thanks for reading and I hope I haven't bored you all to death! Leave us a comment below and click the little 'join this site' button to make me a happy girly!

Lots of love,

F O T D - Sunday

Granted this is not the most interesting of posts, but this is what make up I wore today. I tend to go for a similar look in the daytime most days, except I change the lip colour. It goes with everything and isn't too overdone for work so works for me!
It is SO difficult trying to get an accurate picture of the colours on camera and this is about as near as I could get it!
The only real difference is that the blush is a lot more noticeable in person *shakes fist*

So I took a little trip to boots today..

I have a bit of a problem where I can't just walk past boots, I have to go inside - usually resulting in a not so happy bank balance. I didn't go too mad today and just picked up a few bits, so I thought I'd post a quick haul and review - I'm almost certain you'll recognise some of the things I bought!

Maybelline Colour Tattoo 24 HR - On & On Bronze

Highly pigmented cream/gel eyeshadow that is said to last a whole 24 hours without creasing or fading.
As far as I know there are currently only 7 shades to the range and I went for the colour 'On and on Bronze'.
Fairly new to the market, they have been described as a very similar product to MAC paintpots, but less than half the price.

As you can see in the swatch, it is definitely very pigmented and the colour is gorgeous. I think it would look extra lovely on someone with green/brown eyes.
It only needed one swipe for that intensity, and can be blended out to soften any harsh edges. I would recommend doing one eye at a time if you're going to blend it, as it does dry quickly.

As far as the lasting 24 hours goes, I don't really like the idea of having make-up on for long enough to find out. It definitely has some staying power though as it took some scrubbing to get it off!

I only hope that Maybelline bring out more lighter, neutral shades of this product as this was the only wearable daytime shade they had, which is what I was after.

All in all, this is a beautiful product and at a very reasonable price how can I complain?
I have a feeling I'm going to find this sneaking into my daily make up routine.
You can purchase Maybelline Colour Tattoos at boots here for £4.99.

Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter - Berry Smoothie

I know you've all seen these before because they've been talked about so much lately.

With a fantastic shade range of 14 colours (at least in boots), I found it very difficult to choose which to buy and I was very tempted to just buy every one. But of course, that would be ridiculous, and I chose 'Berry Smoothie'.

It's quite a natural colour, one I would describe as 'your lips but better' for my skin tone.
It has a sheer consistency, but can be built up to be more vibrant.
It's the kind of lip colour that can be applied with minimal effort, but yet look amazing every time.

(Phwoar check out my hairy face! Cheers for that super macro.)

They contain a formula of mango, shea and coconut butter to hydrate and moisturise your lips.
Revlon claim that '94% of women felt lips were softer, smoother and instantly hydrated', and I have to agree. This makes your lips feel loooovely.

I may be nit picking, but I feel the only downside with this product is the packaging. I think that the plastic lid looks quite cheap, especially in comparison to it's competitor, the L'Oreal Rouge Caress Lipstick.
Does anybody else agree, or am I being fussy?

I do really love this product though, and I'm definitely going to buy more. I'm eyeing up 'Tutti Frutti' and 'Macaroon'. Maybe even 'Peach Parfait'. Ahhhh just give me them all!

You can find them here for £7.99!

Revlon Nail Enamel - Sweet Tart and Sparkling

I don't think you can ever have too many bottles of nail varnish. I always seem to find myself reverting back to my comfort zone of dark reds and purples, so today I went for something a lot brighter, as after all it is nearly summer! By the looks of things we're never going to see the sun in England this year, so the least I can do is brighten up my nails I suppose.

The two colours I chose are 'Sweet Tart' and 'Sparkling'.

'Sweet Tart' is a gorgeous candy pink, it makes me feel summery just looking at it! I found I needed two coats to ensure it was completely opaque, but I'd say that's the same with any nail varnish. I think this would look great worn with a plain outfit or LBD, teamed with a matching lipstick. Lovely!

As soon as I saw 'Sparkling' I knew I had to have it. It's a beautiful pink glitter polish, with fine and also larger pieces of glitter. Louise from Sprinkle of Glitter mentioned this nail varnish in one of her blog posts, and you can see what she said about it here. How can anyone not love this? So preeetty. It can be applied as sheer or opaque as you like, building it up with more coats. I chose to pair the two colours on my ring finger for a bit of subtle sparkle, but I'm looking forward to doing it really thick and going full blown glitterball!

Unfortunately, it's tricky to photograph and you can't get a very good idea of how the glitter looks without seeing it for yourself, but it is very lovely and I'm going to try it out on top of every colour I own!

You can buy Revlon Nail Enamel here for £6.49 each, or there's an offer on for 2 for £8 - bargain!

Has anybody else tried out any of these products? I'd love to hear other opinions!

Thanks for reading!

Hello! My name's Melissa and this is my face.

I'm not very good at introductions, so I'll keep this short.
I'm Melissa, 19 from Birmingham and completely obsessed with anything beauty related. After following many a blog on here I've been tingling to make my own, so after much procrastination.. here it is!

I've got some ideas for posts lined up in my head, and even if nobody ever reads this (which I imagine they won't), it's something to keep me entertained and I'm looking forward to getting started!
